相信沒有一本正規(guī)的英文教材會(huì)認(rèn)可I says這樣的表達(dá)，但在實(shí)際生活中，有些英美人士尤其是社會(huì)階層比較低或沒有受過良好教育的人，會(huì)用I says代替I say或I said，比如“So last week I was talking to my friend, and I says, ‘What do you think of my new haircut?’”這句話中的I says就屬于非正式表達(dá)。
 
非正式表達(dá)是指人們?cè)谌粘＝徽勚杏玫降脑~或短語(yǔ)，包括非標(biāo)準(zhǔn)的口頭用語(yǔ)、俚語(yǔ)、方言及粗話(通過對(duì)標(biāo)準(zhǔn)詞語(yǔ)、語(yǔ)法形式及短語(yǔ)的變形而形成)。除了I says，比較常見的還有ain’t (代替am not、is not、are not、has not、have not)和irregardless (代替regardless)等。雖然非正式英語(yǔ)可以出現(xiàn)在小說等文學(xué)作品中，用來表現(xiàn)人物的社會(huì)地位和所處的生活環(huán)境，但在商業(yè)、工業(yè)、教育、新聞媒體、官方等用語(yǔ)中(包括口語(yǔ)和書面語(yǔ))都應(yīng)堅(jiān)決避免這類表達(dá)。試比較以下幾組句子，體會(huì)修改前后的效果差異。

第一句話中的kick the bucket (to die)是俚語(yǔ)，相當(dāng)于中文中的“斷了氣”“翹辮子”，用在這句話中顯得很粗俗，不太合適。擁有豐富的詞匯量很重要，但要注意用詞的場(chǎng)合，是正式用語(yǔ)還是非正式用語(yǔ)，是褒義還是貶義，等等，否則將會(huì)惡語(yǔ)傷人。很多中國(guó)學(xué)生不敢用die，以為用這個(gè)表達(dá)會(huì)冒犯別人。其實(shí)，在英語(yǔ)中die是個(gè)中性詞，可以用died代替passed away，即使用在第二句話中也可以接受。

 【評(píng)析】這個(gè)譯文沒有錯(cuò)誤，但用There are開頭，使整句話顯得較平淡，不夠精彩。
